Exercises To Get Rid Of Wrinkles Around Your Mouth

As well as taking our daily phytoceramide pill, we here at Phytoceramides Best Reviews like to do some exercises to help tone our face, chin, and neck muscles.

Although you don’t need to do these exercises in order for phytoceramides to work, we like to include them in our daily exercise routine.  They firm up the muscles under your skin, increase the supply of oxygen to your face, chin, and neck – and, they only take around half an hour.

Even cosmetic surgeons agree that facial exercises are beneficial, as Dr Mark Berman, the former President of the California Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons admitted:

“When you exercise, you tone and tighten the muscles in your body. So why not apply the same principles to your face? I’ve seen the results, and it works.”

The Exercises

In this first of three articles, we will be looking at exercises which target the lower half of your face.

The three main muscles we are going to exercise are:

  1. Those muscles which extend downward from the bottom corners of the nose to each corner of the mouth (the levator anguli oris muscles), colored blue on the picture above.
  2. The muscles which extend from each corner of the mouth downward to the chin and under the jaw line (called the depressor anguli oris muscles), shown in red on the picture.
  3. The zygomaticus major muscles (colored green in the picture) which extend from the corners of the mouth to the ear. These muscles lift and tighten the cheeks, preventing them from sagging forward or down, to create laughter lines.

If you take a look at anyone under the age of twenty-five, you will see that as well as having smooth and taut skin, they have naturally toned and cushioned facial muscles which enhance the quality of their skin.

Working these three main sets of muscles regularly, by performing the exercises we describe below, will build up a cushion of muscle under the skin.  This will provide a great foundation for your new, ceramide-rich, wrinkle-free skin, giving you an even more wonderful, youthful appearance.

Take Your Time

It will, however, take a few weeks for you to build up the muscle in the first place, as with any exercise. Once the muscle is firm and toned, however, you will need to spend less time maintaining the tone. It is always easier to maintain muscle than to build it!

You should perform each of these exercises for at least 10 minutes a day. However, if you can, doing each one for 30 minutes will see huge improvements in only a matter of a few days.

It is vital that when doing these exercises, you do not concentrate so hard that you wrinkle your forehead!

Exercise One

Place your index fingers on the levator anguli oris muscles (blue in the photo), with your fingertips only just touching the bottom corner of your nose.

Press very firmly down and try to raise your nose, as if you are sniffing the air. Press your fingers firmly enough so that you cannot actually lift your nose.

Hold this position for at least 10 minutes, at least once a day.

Exercise Two

The second exercise builds and firms the depressor anguli oris muscles (red).

Place your index fingers about 2 to 3 inches inside the corners of your mouth. Hold your lips apart slightly, but do not stretch your mouth.

Now try to close your mouth, against the resistance of your fingers.

Exercise Three

Keep your fingers inside the corners of your mouth.  Now try to pull your fingers out, but tighten your mouth really hard to prevent your fingers from getting pulled out. This tones the zygomaticus major muscles (green) and helps remove laughter lines.

Once you have performed these exercises daily, for several weeks, and you are happy with your new muscle tone, you can reduce the amount of time necessary to maintain this muscle by performing each exercise for only 5 minutes a day.

Finally

Please be aware that these exercises are not a substitute for phytoceramides. They will give you a firm and more youthful looking face, and they will help reduce the wrinkles. However, they don’t work on the actual structure of your skin, by replacing those lost ceramides. It is better to see these exercises as a way of enhancing the work which is being done by the phytoceramides.
